Two Horses With One A$$
It’s been a minute since I’ve written an actual blog post…sorry about that…or, you’re welcome, whichever applies!
You ever tried to ride two horses at once?
I never actually have, either, but…I can recognize where the saying, “You can’t ride two horses with one ass,” comes from and it’s meaning…along the same lines of having “too many irons in the fire,” just a little more colorful.
That’s what I’ve felt like lately, and I can imagine that I’m not the only one.
Spring is sure trying to arrive and school is starting to wind down…almost. Everyone can feel the changing seasons coming on and I think everyone is beyond ready for consistently warmer weather, I know I am!
Our kids will actually get their school year wrapped up within the next week to 10 days and then it’s going to be all about babies - lambs, calves (herd pairs and 2 milk cows), kitties, and the next little Owens girl that will be joining the herd toward the end of May-early June. My “due date” is the 23rd, but I almost always make sure our babies are well done before they are born, so we aren’t really expecting her to arrive before June!
I started this blog back in September…I think.
At the time, I didn’t have any sort of plan or direction I really wanted to go with it.
I just finally was doing what I had felt nudged to do for years.
That quickly kind of spiraled into content creation, joining new social media platforms, and being accepted into an Amazon Influencer program, and it has felt sort of like falling down a rabbit hole with trying to learn new platforms and skills, build followings, and balance these new things AND not lose focus on my most important mission, which is caring for a very young and active herd of little people and the home we all live in together.
Therefore, I have felt like I’ve been trying to ride two (or more) horses with one ass.
And as you can imagine…it ain’t workin’ real well!
I have seen several women that I know that are launching things online or promoting products or starting/expanding businesses, etc. and I can’t help but think that we all probably feel like we’re drowning a little bit trying to keep all of those plates in the air.
Even though serving and caring for our families is our life’s most important mission, providing income can be a big part of that and sometimes we have to find a way to contribute to that also, especially in this day and age.
I don’t know many people that just have one job. Or couples even that just have 2 jobs…everyone seems to have a side hustle of some sort.
Wherever you fall in the realm of earning income, I really do wish you the best and hope that we all can show support for one another in some way. Whether that’s purchasing products or just sharing the message with someone else who will, I think there’s room for everyone to help one another and hopefully, room for all of us to earn some money along with the satisfaction of hard work.
So, For What It’s Worth…just remember, you may be able to ride several head of ‘em a day, but in all reality…you just can’t ride two horses with one ass!
